 The Eastman School of Music announces the inaugural Glenn E. Watkins
 Lecture, to be presented by scholar-performer Robert D. Levin.  This year's
 lecture, titled "The Challenges of Completing Mozart's C Minor Mass," will
 be given on Thursday, December 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Eastman School of
 Music Main Building, Room 404.  Levin's completion of the Mass will
 be performed by the Eastman-Rochester Chorus and the Philharmonia
 Orchestera, conducted by William Weinert, in the Eastman Theater that
 same evening at 8:00 p.m.  Both events are free and open to the
 public.
 
 The Glenn E. Watkins Lecture, a biennial event, was established by a gift
 from the noted musicologist.  Watkins, who is Professor Emeritus of Music
 History and Musicology at the University of Michigan, received his Ph.D.
 from the Eastman School of Music and is the recipient of numerous awards,
 including Fulbright, NEH, and ACLS fellowships.  In 2005 he was named an
 honorary member of the American Musicological Society in recognition
 of his many outstanding contributions to musical scholarship.
