Conversations: Music Scholarship Unbound
First Biennial Graduate Music Conference
University of Michigan
February 16-17, 2007, Ann Arbor, MI

CALL FOR PROPOSALS:

(Submission Deadline:  Friday, December 15, 2006)

Michigan Music Theory Society, Music of the Americas Study Group, and
Musicology/Ethnomusicology League of Students are proud to co-host the 
first biennial Graduate Music Conference from Friday, February 16th
through Saturday, February 17th, 2007, at the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor.  Highlights of the conference include a keynote address by
Lawrence Kramer and a graduate student workshop led by Kevin Korsyn.
Paper topics in music theory, musicology, ethnomusicology, and related
fields are welcomed.  Interdisciplinary work is especially encouraged.

Presentations should last approximately twenty minutes, followed by a
ten minute discussion period.  Complete submissions for presentations
should include:

1. An abstract not exceeding 500 words.  The abstract should not 
include the author's name or affiliation.  Supplementary materials such
as musical examples, diagrams, and bibliography may accompany the
abstract, but should not exceed two additional pages.

2.  A cover letter that lists the author's name, email address, title 
of paper, and any required equipment for the presentation (such as a
piano, CD player, overhead projector, etc.)

PAPER SUBMISSIONS:

Paper submissions must be postmarked by Friday, December 15, 2006.
Please send a cover letter and three copies of both the abstract and 
any supplementary materials (double-sided duplication is preferred) to:

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS:

Electronic submissions must be received by Friday, December 15, 2006.
The cover letter should be included in the body of the email, while the
abstract and supplementary materials should be attached to the message. 
  Authors are responsible for producing files that will display and
print clearly and for ensuring that all files and file names do not
contain any indication of authorship.  Send all electronic submissions
to submissions07 at umich.edu.

NOTIFICATION:

Notification of acceptance will be made by e-mail by December 31st, at
which time presenting authors will be asked to submit a shorter 
abstract suitable for publication in the program booklet.
