A New Interdisciplinary PhD Program at the University of California, Irvine

The Ph.D. in Culture and Theory provides a strong theoretical and
critical approach to race, gender and sexuality studies.

Joining UC Irvine's strengths in critical theory with the research
expertise of its faculty in humanities, social sciences, and arts, this
interdisciplinary degree will draw upon departments and programs
including African American Studies, Chicano/Latino Studies, Asian
American Studies, Critical Theory, and Women's Studies.

The Ph.D. Program in Culture and Theory will use a problem-oriented
rather than a disciplinary approach to analyze issues of race, gender and
sexuality in relation to diasporic, transnational, and postcolonial
contexts.
